I have a 1985 mercury black max 150.
With carbs stamped wh 22-1 22-2 22-3
Everything I've read on line I can't seem to find if these are the correct carbs for this engine or the proper jet size and where they go. I do have a manual but can't seem to find this information. Serial number is 6637387 for the engine. Thanks for the advice or a lead way.

Classic put 200hp carbs on and it make it a 200hp!!!!
Who y'all happen to know which ones should be in it or a way to identify what I I have. Or is there away to mak these carbs work. She cranks and idles fine when put into gear you have to put it the floor and hold the key in and it will take off like a rocket and run fine. I have rebuilt the gasket kit only in them and have rebuild the fuel pump.

So when you pull up the parts diagram what does it say they should be? It should have all the info you desire.

since it has 22's on it do you know if it has vertical or horzontal reeds?.. should be vertical for tha 150 but shouldn't have tha 22's either!.. did your serial number come from tha clamp bracket or block welsh plug?

The manual gives me a list of 1000 jets and carbs but in my book It doesn't list which carbs are capable to my engine? It just has all the different wh numbers and jets sizes. Thanks

What manual do you have? Does it have the actual parts diagram for your motor, or just a generic one? If it's for your exact motor it will list the correct parts.

If you want to know what other carbs may work, then start looking at all the other similar motors and see if they may work, but it may not be easy. They only way to find out what the correct jetting is for a non stock carb will be trial and error, or if someone else has done it before you.

thats a good thing...

check your 33's jetting sizes against tha chart you have.. do you have tha plastic linkage that connects tha three carbs?.. if not its probably gonna be a little different than tha one used on tha 22's.... difference is space between tha little pin and tha screw (one that actually holds it to tha carb throttle shaft) on tha carb itself.....
