merc controler

my shift lever has a button that says trailer. when I push it nothing happens. I can't find any reference to it in the manual although it has a picture of it. I disasyembled it and there are wires to it and it is a momentary switch.

This button would work the tilt unit on the motor if it has it. If not it will do nothing.

It has tilt with a bow up bow down switch just above it ,but it still shows no indication of working that I can see.<br />Thanks for the reply!
