Merc Cruiser iboard

Hello, Had my son buy a boat for me that is 900 miles from me. He is bringing it to me in a few weeks. Has an inboard 2.3(140H/P Merc Cruiser(80-82 Motor-I think). I live about 200 miles from nearest parts place and will be going there before boat gets here.) Would like to pick up plugs, wire set, cap and the rest, oil filter but not sure what to ask for) The only number my son could fine is on plugs BR6FS and motor number is 5644977. Anybody help with an ID. Thanks

Mercruiser didn't use any 2.3L engines, they had a 2.5L 120 HP and a 3.0L 140 HP in your serial number range

Thanks for reply, My son sent pictures and the stern drive and motor are marked Merc and 140 on both but manual he has says 2.3. I have a couple of pictures that I can send to you if that would help. Thanks Tim

Get a real Mercruiser manual...<br />The Seloc & Clymer's omit alot sometimes actually have wrong info.....JK

Thanks for your help. I know nothing about inboards and just thought it was a chev or ford motor that you asked for parts on. Never realized that parts houses would show it as Mercruiser and list parts via that way. Again Thanks<br />PS Will get a manual asap.
