Hi everyone. I got a merc I/o running today. I think it is a 1974 or 1975 motor the boat is a 1975. The motor is a stright 6, 165 HP. I think 250 gmc. Anyway when looking over the motor I saw a sticker that siad leaded fuel? Is this the truth? That is question one.
Question two is about the compression. After running it for a while to get it to normal op temp I tested the compression. It was 90 psi in all of the valves. I think this maybe a bit low? Any thoughts? I am happy that ALL of the valves had the same value.
I am thinking about restoring this boat and am wondering if I can trust the motor to be strong. I have spare parts for the motor, lots of them everything but a block and internals. I will take the motor out of the boat during the restore and can work on it.
Any thoughts?
