Merc Lower End Needed

[Mercury 4.5]

The lower end gearing on my 1978 or 79 - 4.5 hp merc is not funtioning properly (possible stripped gears) and I have a crack in the bottom end casing. Is it possible to buy a complete bottom end with gearing etc. new? or do I need to find someone with a used one?

I just tested to see what parts might be available at http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury_parts/469.cfm and found a lot of "NLA= no longer available."
