Hi i hope someone can help me but I just bought a boat with a mid 90s 125 horsepower mercury ive had many dramas with it and the mechenic when you have the unit out and select the gears by hand its seems to wanna to pop out of nuetral in to foward or reverse which ever its closest to is this normal does the gear selecter on the controls lock it in to nuetral plus when its all bolted up the adjust on the cable is wound all the way up it seems to want to find nuetral and it stays there but when I turn the leg by hand you can hear it slightly binding in the gears and when I give it that little extra by hand I can find nuetral is very smooth but I cant keep it there cause I have no thread left in the cable did I line it up wrong its like it needs to be perfectly adjusted cause if I go either way I get a slight clonk when I put it in forward
Plus I relise that I turn the gear select shaft to next tooth but if I do that it seems to do the oposite hope this makes somesense to someone I think gear box needs soem repairs with the selecter side of things
