Merc Model 40 4hp 2 stroke - Broken bolt

Hi Folks,

Sorry but I'm new to outboards/boating. I ran into an issue where the gear that is connected to the pull cord snapped off my motor. Looks like a bolt broke inside of the main connection ( see images below ).

Do you guys have any advice on what I can do to fix this? Any idea where I can get parts for this older motor..?

Pull starting a 40hp sounds like torture. Can you use easy outs to remove it?

Its a 4hp, not a 40. Its Merc Model 40

That looks like a Gnat. If so, you can buy that bracket online
