Merc raw water pump kit

Hey all,

I'm going to rebuild the raw water pump on my Merc 7.4L MPI Gen VI w/Bravo III. Is there any advantage to buying the kit that includes the plastic pump body? While there is some scoring from the impeller, it doesn't appear to be particularly deep & otherwise seems solid. It seems like a waste, & 2x the price.

The advantage is you get a new one, other than that, if your old one is in good shape and not deformed, you don't need it.

It's common to find them all warped and bubbled from people who believe I/Os can run for a short period without a water supply
