1995 75HP Merc outboard , 3 cylinder.Motor sometimes starts and other times doesn't.I have it narrowed down to an ignition/spark related issue.When it does run it sounds strange ,like it is lacking full spark,and does not idle well in forward speed.Once the motor is shut off it does not like to start again , and you can tell by the sound of the cranking that it is not getting spark{ a mecanic tested the top plug , no spark}.After being broke down on the water the other night it decides to start up again after sitting for three hours.Next morning it doesn't start once again.It seems when I play with the shifter enough it will eventually start.Had it going again this morning , then put the shifter into nuetral and the motor died instantly , like power was cut off to it. I did notice when looking inside the three coil holes { where the plug wires go into} , the bottom two holes have a nice bright copper color inside , while the top hole is dark and cannot see any copper like the bottom two.The top coil also experienced a loose plug wire two weeks ago , where the connection was loose into the coil.I have since then replaced all three plug wires.<br /><br />If my power pack was bad , would it start at all?
