Hey all..newbie here..site looks great. I am putting together an 83 Sea Sprite 1895 project...and I am in the process of swapping from y-pipe to through hull exhaust. I have all the parts to complete the swap..except the thermostat housing.

This boat orig came with log style manifolds (898 drive). I have converted to the center riser style. 4" for the diameter tubing with stainless tips. My question is about the thermostat housing. I know they are different between log style and center riser manifolds..but can the log style unit be used with some mods? Log style has 4 outlets 2 inlets..newer style has 4 outlets.

Can I cap the inlets off on the log style and just use the 4 outlets? Will the stern drive water supply be adaquate?

I know the center riser manifolds and risers need a total of four water inlets. Can anyone help?

THANKS!!

Re: Merc thermostat housing

The best thing you can do is get the T/stadt housing that is used on the center riser exhaust manifolds. That will keep you from under cooling your exhaust and/or block.
