It's been said before..."How fast can you afford to go?"<br />The Majority of stock in BRP is still owned by Bombardier....they still have control at this point, and I don't think they will let it go..for now.<br />My point with the other items, such as their jets, is the quality of design...they're top of the line....I don't know where Skidoo is in the snowmobile Industry, but it's been about 1984 since a "Doo" has even been close enough to get a look at my M7 Cat, and Never have I seen one of those take a high mark...unfortunately.<br />I got to run 2 of the E-Tec prototypes in dillon co. and I had a feeling then, if these things will stay together, we got something here.<br />The 75 has almost 1900hrs as of sept, 04 with zero problems.....this is at 9100ft elevation.<br />I think it will be a winner, as will those who own them.

Ya see walleyehed you just did exactly what I was talking about. You tell the person you have seen 7 articles from magazines that aren't a part of Evinrude, but you give the person no links or magazine names. I can at least give one or two links for something I put in as I don't think they should just believe me ---- or you. I would think after running two prototypes you could give the person a little inside information about what makes the Etec so great and what your experience is--- mpg, speed, oil consumption, etc. I know when I'm shopping I like to hear opinions --- and facts, weigh out everything then make a purchase and as you've said in the past -- live with it. And actually, I'm enjoying jerking your chain a little -- as you say, if we were all the same it would be pretty dull.

If you would have been here when I did post on running the 2 prototypes, you would have that info....I got jumped all over, being accused of there being no such engine, bla, bla, bla....<br />I don't like, nor do I want to give any bogus info. If it would make you happy, I will take the time to gather-up the reading material I have and copy word-for-word the info I have already broke down for you. Yes, we have a special crew here...some is BS, some is very true, and the truth always shows through.

Thank you all for your very interesting banter. I did not realize that my question was almost as difficult as asking if the egg came before the chicken ..and, yes as someone said, I can only go as fast as I can afford.<br />By the way to clear up the 7 year Evinrude/BRP deal... After doing more research and reviewing the facts the Evinrude E-Tec seems to be about the same price for the engine size vs. the Yammy or Merc. I appreciate and was highly amused by all of your comments.

I too hold off on E-tec. we reccomened fichts,opti-pops and HPDI motors to a lot of commercial crabbers back in the late ninteies and early 2001. none lasted<br /> all blew up<br /> some blew 3 or 4 times. I will admit that most crabbers idea of maint is fixing it when it breaks. however if there is a weakness or a design flaw they find it first. some of my customers motors will see 100+ hours per week.<br />I do have one F225 yam that blew a gearcase at 3700 hours. it may have actually had 3 or 4 lower nit oil changes and maybe 10 engine oil changes. still no timing belt. but judging by the belt dust on the engine it will let go soon. I have the belt if he ever has time to bring it back. the few little E-tecs I have seen about appear to work well. no one around here will buy a big one. all are waiting to see or they just want 4 stroke.
