MERCARB 2 barrel fuel inlet thread size

Hi all - can someone confirm the thread size for the 97-2001 2 barrel mercarb? Have a carb without a fitting and need to get the thread for a steel nut -

confirmed 7/8-20 is for a 2g/rochester - this one seems the same with finer threads - maybe metric or 7/8-? (next fine pitch is?)

Lots of 1 inch and 7/8 both at 20 threads per inch when searching on fittings. Some are self tapping for repair.

tx- i checked pitch with a 1/4-20 tap yesterday and it didnt seem to fit.. you sure? cos i know the rochesters are 7/8-20 and the mercarb ones do not fit-
