Mercarb problem

I have a 3.0L 140 mercruiser with a 2bbl Mercarb. The bore on the bottom of the carb is 1 3/8 inches. I have been offered a 2bbl Mercarb with a 1 3/4 inch bore. Will this improve performance on my boat or create problems? What about if I install the jets from my old mercarb on the larger bore version? Thanks.

Clean your original carb, the larger carb MAY have only a very small increase in WOT power but the problems at all other speeds would be a nightmare to try to live with.
