Hi Does the vent hose from fuel pump connect to carburetor? I keep flooding out rebuilt had spring needle and solid same result 485 mercruiser

Yes. It's place for fuel to go in the event a diaphragm ruptures in the fuel pump. Your carb probably isn't flooding from there. Most likely wrong pump gasket = too much fuel pressure.
How did you set the float level?

It's easy to check. If there's fuel in the tube the pump has failed and the carb will be too rich.

It wasn't connected at all put on new fuel pump waiting on another carb used ruler included with kit

it needs to be connected or the carb will have a vacuum leak.
