MerControl adjustment

I think I know the answer to this question, but I'll as anyway. I have replaced the control cable on my '76 888. I Have always felt the slack in the controller was a little much, so is there any way to adjust it? The slack I'm referring to is the "dead" throttle space between where the outdrive has shifted, and when the throttle actually starts pulling the carb open. I don't see any way to adjust at the controller itself...

Re: MerControl adjustment

There isn't any adjustment on them, what usually happens it the plastic bushings wear out causing all the slop. You might check the link below to see if it's for the type control you have.

Remote Controls

Re: MerControl adjustment

Thanks Don. Mine is one of the standard panel mounted ones. I'll go back in and check the bushings. Too bad new ones (with trim, mine has trim on teh dash) are so expensive to replace...

What is the wiring in the assembly for? (mine doesn't have trim) and it appearsto be a switch of some form, like a cut-out switch? Neutral safety switch?

Re: MerControl adjustment

They do have a neutral safety switch, and some do have trim.
Did you check all the different controls at the link I gave you? They are not all the same.
