I have a copy of the Clymer manual which suits Mercs from 60's to mid 80's
There is no mention of the :"remote control" or Mercontrol in the book anywhere.
I have and early 80's 50 hp with the control witch has the black electric choke button
on top and the "fast idle" lever on the right.
Does anyone have a link or a scan of this unit dissassembled ?
I want to get into it to check for corrosion, and fix choke button which is dodgy..
My email is andrewkafp@yahoo.com.au
Is the Seloc manual any better ?

Any help or link would be appreciated..

Yep, looks like you now have to register in order to get access to the files. It free and takes about 30 seconds.

Tried registering, still asking for a password, and not the one I registered with.

Re: Mercontrol diagram

I am running into the same problem with my 79 115 Hp Mercury. I have the MerCruiser control box w/choke button on top; I had to replace most of the wiring from my harness because of the wiring being old and brittle. But unfortunatly I am not sure on how to re-connect the wires to the new key switch, does any one have some sort of image or a diagram that would make things a bit easier? I would appreciate it. (My key switch has 5 prongs on it). (Color of my wires are: black, red, brown, grey, yellow, looks like a peachish or a whitish color and another that looks like a tanish color).
