I have a 1976 SRV200 Sea Ray. The throttle/shift control is a Mercontrol unit as described in the maintenance manual. I want to replace the upper shift cable but can't figure out how to get the pin out of the cable end. Manual says, "remove it." But HOW? It is internally threaded. Looks like if you were to screw a bolt into it it would just pull the pin out. Best I can tell, I need a 6-40 X 1 inch screw. Two hardware stores in this hick town and neither has #6 screws in fine thread. Any other ideas/tips??

That should be a dowel pin on a small plate. That plate is held in with a nyloc on a small stud. Can you post pictures?

Found it. It is a small clip pin. But it was hidden behind the clevis on the cam plate. I'll try to post a picture but I'm not having much luck with pictures.
