Is it difficult to change the out drive of an older boat with a 110 hp or 3.0 to a newer outdrive - MC

Re: Mercruiser 110 hp

I am looking at a 1967 Starcraft Holiday that has a mercruiser 110 hp engine.

Is the 3.0 a good motor to upgrade from the 110 hp or would it be better to go to a 6 cylinder? V6 or inline 6?

Ayuh,.... Ya haven't even Bought it yet....

just buy Newer insteada thinkin' repower/ refitting an old hull....

The only way to do these kinda Up-grades is to buy a Donor boat for It's driveline, 'n Junk it...

Buyin' Newer now, is about 10 times Cheaper than buyin' junk, 'n refitting it....

Swappin' a motor is reasonably Involved,.. 'n Expensive....

Up-gradin' the transom 'n drive is Guttin' the hull to it's bowls, 'n replacin' EVERYTHING....

I agree with Bond-o. Even if the boat was free you are going to spend more in the end then it would cost to just buy a newer boat with the engine and drive you want.
