Mercruiser 120 revers lock valve

Read three some old threads. Seems that a leaky reverse lock valve was common.

Tried replacing the 0 rings and that made it worse.

Looks like the fix is to replace my perfectly good pump with a new one that has a built in check valve
But When I talked to a local place they had no idea which one would be best. We priced one that looked like it would work but it was $1100.
Was hoping to get on the water tomorrow.
Any chance someone has stumbled upon a cheap easy fix?
Everything g else works.

Wondering it's just a matter of the wing washer being flattened over time. Maybe a shim behind it would help?

For those that have swapped out to a new style pump do you have a part number that you found worked best?

Maybe your in the wrong part of the world or maybe the $1100 includes the installation cost.
New at a Merc site for a bit over $720
New on ebay for $300
Used on ebay for $135

This was just a real quick look, but go search for part number 93247A7 or just search Merc power trim pump. You want the new one with the plastic container

Ayuh,.... I think SEI got into the trim pump biz too,.... can't remember how much though,....

As AD said, go for the newer current production pump with the plastic tank,....

Yep welcome to Canada.
New on EBay are showing 800-900 Canadian plus shipping.

Gonna have another go at get to the valve to seal hopefully preserve the weekend bout trip.

If it don't work I've got a msg to a guy about a used bump about an hour drive from me.

Do all the plastic resivour ones have the check valve build in or is there something specific I should look for?

Ayuh,.... All of the trim pumps after yers have the built in check-valves,....
You'll also need the return trim hose,... It's hi-pressure compared to what ya got,...

In the link titled Don'S Adults Only Section in my signature, you'll find links that'll point out the various trim pumps used by Merc over the years,...

The current production plastic tank models have been 'round quite awhile, 'n are out there in the used market,...

I switched my old mc1 style trim pump to one from a gen 1 alpha. The hoses are different from the pump to the block that splits them on the bottom of the gimbal housing. So that block also needs to be changed.

Scored a used pump today.
After my temp fix on the stock valve I had it out Saturday and it only let out a couple drips in an hour and a half of driving around
Is it a big job to swap in the new pump?
Are the hoses I need an off the shelf thing?

I'm headed out next Wednesday for a two week boating and camping trip.

Trying to decide if I should leave well enough alone for now and risk it springing a leak again or try and swap the pump first and risk not getting it up and running in time

The hardest is if you can get under the motor and fish the lines in/out. Hoses are not off the shelf, but there should be a lot of them can be found used
