Read the manual on the site about replacing the water shutters on my SC 18ft mercruiser 120.Mine are no longer there anymore.Whats the best way to remove the rivets?Dont need to pull the engine to do this do I?

Depends on what drive you have, even a year might help. "SC 18ft mercruiser 120" doesn't really tell us much.

The shutter is in the top of the exhaust tube going to the bottom of the transom shield. Remove the exhaust elbow, and the rubber hose/bellows and you should see the remains.

Already there.Guess I will try the chisel method.....the shutters are rubber I take it and should have passed through I take it?I have the drive off and will be replacing the bellows to be safe.Looks as though it was run dry, thats why I am going this deep.Just want to make sure its water worthy, anything I should be looking for in the whole process?

Before replacing look for remains of old one at the bottom of the tube look through the dive end as well!

The OEM part number for the shutter itself is 45586. You need to find an aftermarket shutter that replaces that number, or get the OEM part.

I've looked through the Sierra cat-n-dog and it appears they don't do a replacement for your shutter, only the one you found, and that's different to yours. Looks like you'll be buying genuine for that....

Ya...looked on different sites, they all came back to the same one and with out a way to cross reverence but I did find one on mercruiserparts.com that is the factory shutter and part number...only $30ish to boot and I'm a happy camper:)
