I have a 120HP mercruiser Drive Serial number 0D328356 & Transom Serial number 0C846856
I am reinstalling the engine after stringer/transom job and I have a single wire coming of the engine connector on the boat side of the connector. The wire is about 6" long and is tan/blue stripe with a ring terminal. Anyone know where this goes as I missed it while taking picture 6 months ago.

tan w/ blue stripe is a alarm wire to the water temp alarm switch or the no oil pressure alarm switch

There is no warning alarms on this engine. It was offered as a kit later on if I recall.

I do remember it being connected. I think it was connected to ground at the trim position sensor connectors.

I see the tan/blue wire on the diagram that you were talking about. Pin 4. I will check where the wire goes this evening.

This is for the DDIS system. Mine has a distributor. There is no tan/blue wire on my wiring diagram in the manual.

I sorted this out as per Bt Doctur's instructions. Wire remains unconnected and all systems are go!
