Mercruiser 135 hp and 140 hp

Evening gang,

So besides 5 hp... What is the difference between these two engines? Is the 140 running higher compression? carb? Where's it gettin the 5 extra ponies? I wouldn't mind picking up these if possible? I know performance mods are mostly non-existent for the 3.0L.

135 and 140 are the same 3.0L engine. Just a difference in how they are rated. The old system rated them at the crankshaft, the newer models are at the prop shaft.

Ayuh,....

The motor was virtraully Unchanged for Years,...
Always "Rated" somewhere between 130hp to 140hp....

I think "Marketing" had more to do with the "Rating",....'cause they Didn't change any Parts....
