OK the CARB number means nothing as far as the part # goes. It only means that the module meets CARB air pollution standards.
If your old petronix looks like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pnx-91146a/media/images it is Delco
If it looks like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pnx-ml-141/media/images it is Mallory
If it is the original distributor it is almost certantly Delco.
P.S. It looks like the modules are NOT interchangable, so do not open the package when it arrives if you have the Delco distributor, contact the seller for a return.

the only difference i see on both of these is one is red and one is black. if its by color the one i have is black. also on the side of the distributor i have a # on it which is "1111 400 7f17
sae marine" IMG_0572.jpgIMG_0570.jpgIMG_0569.jpg

Yeah that looks exactly like my Delco, so you can be sure that you have the Delco distributor, and if your new one looks the same, it is a Delco too. The module in your photo is the older 1146 Ignitor (black), the one you want to replace it with is the 91146A Ignitor II (red). The II is a better unit that should be paired with the Flamethrower II low resistance coil.

Good luck. One note: The Petronix needs a full 12V to operate properly, so if the purple resistance wire is still in place (running from the electric choke to the coil +) you will need to run another wire to the red Petronix lead. A good way to do that is to splice a stranded wire into the purple wire going to the electric choke and connect that to the red lead. Soldering is best, and coating with liquid tape makes a nice watertight seal. Here is a link to the instillation instructions: http://www.pertronix.com/support/manuals/pdf/ignitor12vneg.pdf

so i got the new distributor installed. took alittle tweeking but its running and sounding like a beast. The funny thing was the coil pack which i bought in July wasnt working. had to replace coil pack. once replaced that boat started up everytime i turned the key and reving the engine sounded clean. Still have no idea why it blew in the first place. I belive maybe a loose connection or something to that nature would make both the electronic ignition and the coil pack to both blow!????

Your old unit was the older petronix Ignitor (not the Ignitor II) which was prone to burning out if the ignition was left on without the engine running, so it may have been something like that, and when the Ignitor failed it may have take out the coil, just a guess. Your new Ignitor II (91146A) has been redesigned so that leaving the ignition on is not a problem. Glad you got it running:D
