some chevy's have more than one timing tab location depending on power steering, A/C etc.
some had a different part number balancer, others had multiple notches.
I know my V6 marine balancer has a different notch location than the auto one.

A timing tool will help you find #1 TDC and then see which lines up to the pointer you have.
I made a tool by drilling out an old spark plug and sliding an old pushrod through it
