Mercruiser 165 Straight 6 - GPH ?

All,

I had my 165 hp straight 6 rebuilt last year and it runs great! But I'm a little worried about the amount of gas it is using. I have a 18 gallon tank and used over half of it just cruising around the lake at about 3k rpms in about an hour. That seems high to me. What are your thoughts on this and what have you experienced if you have the same motor.

Ayuh,... Is that by the gauge, or refillin' the tank,..??

I ask 'cause fuel gauges are notoriously in-accurate,...
