Mercruiser 260 center riser swap

Just started converting my log manifold setup to the center rise manifolds/risers. I ordered the complete kit from Moore Performance.

Boat is a 1982 Cobalt 19BR by the way....

Prior to ordering my kit, I was told by Dennis that the only thing I would need is a new section of 1” heater hose. He couldn’t tell me where it goes but he did say it would be obvious where it would be needed.

Anyone out out there that has done this swap and can tell me how much 1” hose you used and where it goes? Also, will all these old hoses from the log setup work with the new center risers? I have everything mostly mocked up and it seems some of the hoses would be too long now so do I just bend them into place or do they need to be cut?

You can see the hoses in this pic going to the risers -- You probably want to cut them to length after installing the manifolds if your using bulk hose in place of OEM hoses.

The 2 hoses shown going in front of the valve covers wrap around and go into the manifolds at their lowest point near the center of the front to back manifold distance. v8_260hp.jpg

I appreciate the response. So is it safe to say that I should just buy a bunch of 1” heater hose and essentially make my own to plumb everything? Also, is it 1” ID hose that I’m looking for?

This is is the diagram I’ll be following....

Still looking for replies if anyone has experience with this swap.....

I’ve got mostly everything wrapped up. Run into an issue with the power steering pump leaking on the back side. There’s a bolt that threads in from the backside of the bracket and into the backside of the pump. This is where the leak is coming from. I’ve tried wrapping the threads of the bolt with Teflon tape with no luck. Is there supposed to be an o ring or rubber washer between the backside of the pump and bracket?

Also, does anyone know how the solenoid bolts back up? I’m talking about the solenoid that was formerly bolted to the back side of the starboard log manifold. I’ve got a new bracket for it that came from Moore Performance but it did not come with new bolts so I have no idea where this thing goes.

I bought a 1982 SeaRay w. dual MCM 260s which had log style manifolds. However, the engine blocks were mostly rusted heaps and I had to do a lot of research. I "rebuilt" them with center rise manifolds. From what I remember, I had to get new thermostat housings and covers. Also, I ended up buying a used hose set off of Ebay. I didn't want to use heater hose for fear of kinking. I do believe this is all 1" hose. If the solenoid you're referring to is the remote starter solenoid, then yes I also had to find out how to mount it. It ended up going on the same bracket as the water seperator on the SB front of the engine (see picture of rebuilt engine).

Do you know what model thermostat housing you have? That was the head scratcher for me. Also, does your shift plate mount to the back of your engine on top of the flywheel housing? If so, that should be moved to the side of the SB riser as seen in the same rebuilt picture.

Not sure if I have to mess with the shift plate....I really hope I don’t but I’ll take a look.

this is what my setup looks like. I’m really struggling with this power steering pump. Can’t figure out how this back bolt is supposed to seal....

also, looks like my filter bracket has a provision for something else to go on top. Not sure if I have enough wire to pull the solenoid that far forward.
