Hello, I have a 1985 Sea Ray 300 Weekender It has two mercruiser 260 engines in it, the port is a ccw and the starboard is a cw rotation. The boat has been sitting for a couple of years and neither engine will crank over. The starter just attempts to turn and it wont. The problem is that I dont know if the engines are seized or the transom part of the shafts are seized. Any way to tell or neutralize the transom?

Pull the drives....6 nuts and the pin for the trim rams each.
Ain't no big deal.

But I'll bet your problem is really the engines are rusted solid.

Have never seen a alpha or bravo with a counter-rotating engine.
is it the engine or the drive that is counter-rotation?

I'd pull the plugs, fog the motors and turn over by hand first..

Welcome to iboats......:)
Pull the plugs, squirt some oil in the cylinders & see if they will spin....
You can put a socket on the crankshaft bolt & see if it will spin as well.....
You could unbolt the couplers to isolate where it's stuck....
He has MIE, not sterndrives, Merc does not use counter rotation engines on sterndrives......;)
