mercruiser 3.0 a1g23 stuck in reverse

I pulled my outdrive apart w it in forward gear and replaced it the same(forward) w/o adjusting the shift shaft. Now it is stuck in reverse. Is there any way I can resolve this w/o pulling my drive again? I'm trying to adjust my linkage for the shift shaft but idk if I can do it that way>

If you raise the drive up and look under it, you will see the shift shafts may not be lined up. Or the shift slide missed the shift shaft arm.
Either way the drive has to come back off (at least pulled back some) to fix it.

:blue: well that was alpha1 gen 2 but I guess you got that, and thank you for your help, you always come through Don. Not going back outside until heat wave is over, unless I wanna drive around backwards :lol:
anyway that was a hard job, replacing the bellows, but with everyones help, I have no water in my boat-last year the water got so high when I was away that it got in through the hole where you check the oil, I had to change the oil 3 times before it came up clean

Ayuh,.... Just for future reference,... 1 oil change, 'n a Good, Hard run is all it takes,...

After the bulk of the water is Out, motor heat will steam off any residual water,...
