Wondering if someone can help me. When I start my motor up from a cold start it has a tendency to "stall" when I go to move from No-Wake to WOT...there is a spot in there it will stall. Once the motor has been running for a while, it doesn't have that problem. Any ideas?

Also, I noticed last night that it seemed like it wasn't starting as quickly as when I bought it and started using it a few weeks ago. I had to turn the engine over for a while longer than "normal" for it to start. Granted, this was after I forgot to put the "kill safety switch" and strap back on. Maybe it was flooded?

Re: Mercruiser 3.0 L Alpha One - "stalls"

I find that on my 3.0l it stumbles the first time I give it the juice. On the first time, I just ease it up onto plane instead of goosing it and that takes care of it.. It isn't enough of a nuisance for me to look for the cause which is probably the accelerator pump on the carb. Others have pointed this out but, like I said, it hasn't been a problem enough to fix.

Flooding should only affect your engine until the engine clears itself after it starts. when I cold start mine, I put it in neutral mode and pump the throttle a couple times and then leave the throttle at about 1/3 before I start it. It usually pops right off. Of course then I back it off before it revs too high.

You might try this type of routine if the problem persists.

its never going to run like your car we were spoiled but EFI

the question becomes how long is a while ? my 1995 3.0 will run stall free after about a 90 seconds

you have to pump the gas a couple of times everytime you start it and usally have to give it a least 1/3 throttel in netural and let it warm up at about 1500 RPM

a so so battery will turn it over so so

a battery place can load test it to check it

i bought a new battery last year and it cranks over a LOT faster the old on held 12.3 volts but really could not put out the amps anymore

tommays

When was the last time it had a full tuneup. Unlike cars and trucks, a yearly tuneup is needed to keep them working properly. That also includes timing adjustment and carb adjustment.
