I’ve got a Mercruiser 3.0L in my 99 18 foot bay liner capri. I’ve rebuilt the carb once, engine ran good for a season. Ran good at the start of this season too, now back to running like crap. I really don’t care for the Rochester/Mercarb. Any suggestions on a good aftermarket carb?

Don' hardly get better'n a Mercarb/Roc for that. Did you use an OEM rebuild kit last year?

Other things to consider are fuel quality/cleanliness. Quality fresh filters. Water separation filter and no water getting past it to the carb.

I fueled up with fresh premium ethanol free fuel. This boat does not have a water separator on it. I’ve been debating putting one on. I’m skeptical of the cheap ones on Amazon.

Good if expensive choice. I dislike ethanol in a boat. That doesn't cover whether there is water and or ethanol left over in the tank.

You want a water separator. iBoats is a good source and is one place where I WOULD buy a Sierra.

Would you recommend getting a water separator with a sediment bowl? Or just a screw on filter style without a bowl on the bottom of the filter.

Just a screw on can. Replace when you winterize each year.
Just ordered a sierra water separator with a few extra filters and fittings. Will change out the fuel lines while I’m at it. I’ll have to order a OEM rebuild kit for the Mercarb and see if that helps. Thank you
