Hi All,
First post here. I am putting the cylinder head back on my 2005 3.0 and have a question since the manual does not seem to mention anything about this. Do you put the head on and just put the pushrods back down in the pushrod holes and seat them on the lifters? Or is there some other method such as trying to put the head on with the pushrods already in the holes??
Thanks Dave

What manual are you looking at? The OEM manual tells you exactly what order to put it together.
From the manual.

1. Place head gasket in position over dowel pins.
2. Carefully set cylinder head in place over dowel pins.
3. Coat threads of head bolts with Quicksilver Perfect Seal and install finger-tight.
4. Torque head bolts to 90 lb-ft (122 Nm).
5. Install push rods, rocker arm assemblies and lifter restrictors in their original positions.
6. Torque rocker arm nuts to 20 lb-ft (27 Nm).
7. Install as outlined:
a. Intake/exhaust manifold.
b. Rocker arm cover.
c. Spark plugs.
d. Any components removed from front or rear of cylinder heads.
8. Follow procedures in SECTION 6A or 6B of this manual:

Thanks Don, That's what I was looking for. I have the Seloc manual which is very vague about the pushrods. Seems like I would have a handful if I tried to put the head on with the pushrods in place. BTW will the pushrod cover come off without removing the distributor? According to the Seloc manual you must remove the distributor. It just doesn't look necessary to me looking at it. I'd like to make sure it all correct before I adjust the valve lash.
Thanks Again

No, you can pull the pushrods out by just removing the rocker cover, and loosening the rockers.... Now, if you want to get to the cam followers, then you DO need to remove the distributor to be able to get the forward side cover off...

seloc...

Yeah, plenty wrong with them... "You bought a WHAT???!?!?!?" (Ford Edsel comes to mind)

Hello fellows, I'm New here.
I just bought a Sea Ray 180 1999 with a Mercruiser 3.0.
It was running on the Water and overheated till turns off itself. Now It won't tur on (it tryes but it can't).
I think it's probably one of the push rods that could be bend and it's not able to open the valve as it should.
Can you guys recommended me a part number kit and a manual I can use to replace the rods and make bring it to live again?

Thank you in advance.
