Hi, I have a Mercruiser 3.0 with alpha one, (I think). The year model of the boat is -89 but I think the drive and engine might be a later model.

I have read the stickys of how to find out what year and gear ratio the drive is, but I didn't quite understand the documents... maybe it's my bad english or maybe I am just too dumb..

The serial number of my drive is 0c627743..

-89 the serial numbers are 0c5xxxxx and -90 they jump to 0c8xxxxx and there is no 0c6xxxxx at all?

Could anyone help please?

Ayuh,... That means the numbers in-between were used in that year...

What, Exactly, are ya tryin' to figure out,..??

Parts are sold by Serial numbers, not years...

I am trying to figure out that is this alpha one or alpha one gen 2... I also would like to know what is the gear ratio.

I am going to buy some parts to my drive. bellows, gimbal bearing, all the seals ( water in the drive), etc... so that's why I'm asking so that I get the right parts.

Thank you guys!Don I looked the stickies, but I wasn't 100% sure, so I asked here...

The previous owner said he had replaced the lower unit at some point (had driven into rocks). The current lower unit is white. So I believe the lower unit is -88? I read from the stickies that they used these white drives only at -88 and are quite rare?

The white ones were badged for SeaRay, which is why they are white. Or a previous owner painted it. I've seen them all kinds of weird colors. Even bright orange, the guy though it would attract fish.
