Mercruiser 3.0L missing at idle speeds?

The boat/engine is a 2001 model. The engine all of a sudden doesn't run right at idle speed. Like the engine is missing and then suddenly dies. I can run it a higher speeds with no problem yet....

I was going to change the spark plugs to start. Can these be purchased around town or do they have to be special ordered?

Also, any other steps one would recommend if the plugs don't help? Thanks

How long since your last FULL tuneup, compression check, fuel filter change etc.? Have you ever worked on an engine before?

I've been around boats for a long time, but my experience working on engines in very limited. We just purchased this boat in March and the previous owner apprears to have taken good care of it.

I have new plugs and fuel filter and will install this weekend. As I read more it could also be the Carburetor. What are the recommended actions I should do to the Carburetor? Thanks

Good guys here telling you to do a full tune up. Heres a few other things will help you.

1- Get a factory manual. Seloc second best.

2-Check fuel filter at fitting too carb.

3-Check fuel filter in fuel pump if so equipped.
