mercruiser 300HP D-Tronic WRONG ECM

For almost 2 whole years I spent trying to get my Mercruiser D-Tronic engine to run right and it turns out that Cummins Mercruiser supplied me with not one but two wrong ECM?s, they supplied me with the 250hp ECM?s which are completely different engines, my question is could this have damaged my engine in any way? As the boat was tested under load on numerous occasions as it would not rev past 2500rpm (under load), the engine clock had 10 hours on it, by the time I found out it was in fact the wrong ECM, Cummins Mercruiser are trying to wriggle out of any liability, the Wrong ECM?s are currently being checked at supplier level or so I am led to believe

Ayuh,... I rather Doubt it hurt that Diesel, at All.... It was just runnin' at a lower power level....

are you sure??
they are compleatly diferent engines, diferent blocks-injector pumps-heads-turbos's-cranks-con rods-pistons-liners-valves-injectors, in fact the only parts they share are the the oil filler caps and the paint?

Ayuh,... A Diesel reacts to a lean condition differently than a Gas motor....

I still don't see a Problem...

Ditto...

The way diesels work is that they always get full air and do not have a throttle plate like a gas motor. If you the motor to idle/run at low rpms you inject just a little bit of fuel. If you want full power you inject a whole lot more fuel.
It is pre-ignition and detonation that kill gas motors. Diesels are direct injected, and they don't use spark plugs, so they cannot preignite. Diesels essentially detonate all the time, but its controlled within the combustions chambers in the head.

Unless you have ever had water in your fuel.... i doubt you hurt the motor.
