I have a 97 Larson Sei 206 with a 5.7 mercruiser I/O.. I just had the carb rebuilt and only taken it out once this past weekend... well let me start from the start... 2 weeks ago i went to get the boat running and cleaned for the holiday weekend, so i stuck the muffs on the lower unit and started it.. it started up just fine (well i had to pump the throttle a couple times but it started right up) so i thought it was in tip top shape.. I took it out to the lake thinking that no B.S. was going to ruin my weekend, WRONG!! i put the boat in the water cranked it up and it started like it did at the house.. so I thought no problems, well after i ran it up and down the lake a few times i cut it off to sit and hang out with some friends i met up with, then sat for about 20-30 mins tried to start it up, it wouldnt start.. I opened the hatch thinking it was the fume sensor and ran my blowers and still wouldnt start.. i kept pumping the throttle and it finally acted like it was going start, but still kept cranking, then about after 3 mins it finally started.. well i thought maybe it was the sensor.. so i did the same ran it up and down the lake a few more times with no problem.. then when i had it running about 4500 rpms it cut in and out like it was going to die.. so i thought "****!" this isnt good.. so i kept it hammered down it did it again.. so i backed off a little bit.. it didnt do it but after i cut it off and tried to start it same thing, took about 3 mins with the hatch open to start.. What can be my problem??? the guy who worked on my carb said he turned my idle down a little.. could this be it?? because last year i didnt have one problem starting.. PLEASE HELP!! it would be highly appreciated, anything you know will help

Bump

Welcome to iboats.
How old is your gas? Did you change your filters?
You can dowload the manual to your engine in the "adults only" sticky.

It could be a problem if water is present in the gas tank.

Ayuh,... Pull the Fuel Filters,+ dump the contents into something,+ LOOK for the Water...

Could also be the carb inlet needle is dirty/or worn, and allowing excessive fuel to flood the bowl, and exit the vent overflow passage into the venturis. This will cause hot hard starting.

Pull the flame arrestor after you shut your engine down, and look down inside the venturis with a flashlight. If you see any fuel dribbling out you have a needle and seat issue...
