Does anybody know where I can get a flywheel for 1984 5.7/350 MIE? The ring gear is mounted towards the back of the flywheel. Is it possible to take a regular flywheel and have it machined to move the ring gear?

You may want to call these guy to ensure you get the right one. There are two sizes listed for pre '85 two piece rear main seal engines.

Summit racing is another good option as well.

The two-piece rear main seal is what I got. The boat is a 1984 Chris Craft 251. The original 305 was raw water cooled and that never works in salt water, so it rotted out long ago. I upgraded it to a 350 that was out of my 1972 Camero that also rotted out and beyond any hope. I had the gear out for a refreshing up and noticed two large cracks in the flywheel. So I might as well get that taken care of now instead of having it let go on me 15 miles offshore.

Some flywheels are made so that the ring gear can be on the front or rear depending whether for a stern drive or a MIE application. Is your boat a stern drive or a straight inboard ?

knock off the old ring gear, put flywheel in freezer and new ring gear in the oven. ring gear will drop right on, let it cool and install flywheel

I know how to do that, would be easy, if it was the problem. I need a whole flywheel assembly. Mine rusted out.

the wheel itself? unheard of. where are you located? and good auto parts can get you a wheel for a stick clutch , you just add the flex plate

I have the transmission mounted starter, the ring gear is mounted to the rear of the flywheel, unlike a car/truck. Galveston, TX. Saltwater and brackish water gets to everything. What I did not do was take the picture from the other side, but it looks better this way.

That flywheel is used for both I/O and Inboard. all you need is a ring gear , wire brush and some paint

This may not be an issue but was your original engine left to right rotation?
Quite often single engine straight inboard engines were right hand rotation and if your engine was right hand you will have to reset the pump in the transmission, swap the propeller along with the starter.

Looking from the flywheel end toward the circulation pump, right-hand rotation.

Since the 350 is left rotation is the Camaro flywheel for a standard transmission or an automatic?
