Greetings,
I have a 1999 Bayliner with a 5.7 mercruiser 250hp that I can't figure out the problem. It started in the begining of this boating season. It was running crappy and stalling. First thing I did was change the water filter and put in water zorb in the tank. This solved the stalling problem. I also went through a fresh tank of fuel. But now, there's still another problem. At the dock it revs and operates fine. but when I take the but when I'm underway and I go full throttle for several minutes to 40 mph and then I cut it back down to 5mph and then go back up to full throttle again, there's a total loss of power. The boat bogs down and will only go around 10mph. 10 minutes later the power returns. So this is what I've done so far:
I changed the plugs, coil and cap. I changed the water seperator once again. I also took the two barrel carb off and rebuilt it. I ebven chaecked the timing. Although it runs smoother at idol, it still has the same loss of power described as above.
I was wondering if the perhaps the fuel pump has an intermittent problem.
Any advice would be great, HELP!!!
