Thanks in advance for reading and offering to help:

- replaced starter; turned over and started fine at least 25 times, different days
- ran out of gas on lake 2 weeks later; engine shut down and now engine will not start; turns over beautifully
- checked plugs; no spark
- carburated engine
- throttle seems fine; gas going into carb

Is there some sort of "kill switch"? I read about oil pressure switch and sensor possibly having corroded wires; this is my best guess at the moment but I can't find it on the engine.

Howdy

Yes there is a kill switch and in most cases its part of the throttle control near the bottom or close by. In the pic below note the purple wire goes to the throttle handle and there is the kill switch in lower left of the handle. Check for 12V on the purple wire, and if you have it but not at the gauge, it can be bypassed for testing.
