Hi folks. I'm not new to this forum, but I am new to sterndrives. I just picked up an 89 peterborough fury with a bad 5.7L. I'm going to to a total rebuild on a fresh block, and I need to know if I can use an automotive gasket kit, or do the head gaskets and intake gaskets have to be for marine applications. The boat is a salt water only machine and will continue to be. Thanks for the help.

Are you running a heat exchanger? If not, you need marine head gaskets, brass core plugs, and a marine circulation pump.

thanks for the response Scott. it is sea water cooled. What is the difference between regular head gaskets and marine ones? what about intake gaskets?

Marine gaskets are multi-layered stainless
