Hi Ppl!

We have a Glastron SSV 194 Laraya with a 5L Mercruiser. The engine has the Quadrajet on top.

The problem we actually have is, if you run WOT for 1-2 minutes, the engine simply turns off. You can restart most of the time but only drive on idle. If you idle a few minutes, you can reproduce that again and again. You can drive with 3000rpm with no trouble.

Anyone who would agree with me, that this may be a problem with the fuel pump? Filter and fuelline is brand new now. My guess is, that the fuel pump just cant handle the amount of fuel on WOT and the floatchamber starts to get empty. So we would go for a new pump as the next step.

Any other ideas?

Ahh and btw, I was looking for a repair kit for the Quadrajet here: http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/tech/Rochester/Quadrajet-index.html

but the number on the carb doesn't seem to match anything there. Why is that? The carb is labeled 28280 B 1229

Best Regards,
Andy

If the carburetor is empty, then the next time this happens, the accelerator pump should be dry. So, take the boat out, run at wot, when engine stalls, check for fuel at the accelerator pump.

yea great idea, i remember i did that but i actually don't remember the result haha

will the acc pump be dry on first stroke already ...what i mean is, does it keep one shot or does it take the fuel directly from the float chamber?
