I just purchased a 1990 Sea Ray 180. With a Mercruiser "Alpha One" Outdrive. Model #6010000CR. I was told it had a 4.3L Chevy engine. is this correct? or is it a 3.0L?????. anyway, i need a Carb Rebuild kit, and need to know what i need to buy. Thanks.

If you can't tell the difference between a V6 and an inline 4, then you probably shouldn't be messing with the carb.

No, its a V6, but from what other people have told me the 3.0L is also a V6. and ive rebuilt, and built up about 5 different 350's with a 400 crank Cam, Rockers, The works. so i know alot about Carbs. i just need to know which one i have so i can find out what Rebuild kit i need. im new to Inboards. but ive worked on motors and engines all my life. Which car/truck had the Chevy 4.3L so i can just get that rebuild kit. from what im aware of, all the 4.3l's chevy put in theire vehicles were all Fuel Injected. Am i right?

Just looked some more, The 4.3L's ive foud that have the Carb have a 4BBL Carb and this one has a 2BBL Carb, so that leads me to belive that its the 3.0L Chevy.

It's verry simple. If you have a 3.0L it has 4 spark plugs, 4.3L has 6 spark plugs. There is a tag above the starter. This is the Mercruiser serial number. Once you have the serial number ( or just the year of the engine) just call a place like Marine Power Service (732-751-1200) Or (www.marinepowerservice.com) and they can look up the kit for you.

If you are talking about a 3.0 Mercruiser, then that is a inline 4 cylinder not a V-6. The 4.3 mercruiser is a V-6. The carbs are different in marine v's auto, just be sure to get the right one.
