Ok...had first major problem today with my boat. Would appreciate some feedback from you experts. We are out on the lake..I jump on the throttle, getting the boat on plane. Now we are cruising along good. My daughters say "dad, water is shooting out from under the engine bay covers". I look back and steam is starting to show. I shut motor down (never had a chance to look at temp gauge) and lift the main center cover.Water is EVERYWHERE. Bilge pump is on, and I notice a hose that came off. If your looking at the front of the engine..its kinda on the lower right side of the water pump pulley ? Anyways..the hose clamp just came off. My question is..did I do any major damage ? Is this the return line (after the water goes thru the block)? I put it back together, and the boat seemed to run ok..bit I headed back in and brought it home. 1988 Chris-Craft Limited 245. 7.4L..Bravo one...thru hull exhaust. Thanks guys.

Re: Mercruiser 7.4L

sounds like you're fine, based on your description sounds like the water hose that feeds the exhaust manifold on that side. might take a good look at the manifold to make sure didn't get too hot. How long did it run that way?

Dunno...was looking at all the girls in the other boats..lol. Maybe..40 seconds to a minute ? What if that manifold did get too hot ? Anything else I could/should check for ? Does that have anything to do with cooling my outdrive ? I'm hoping that hose is "downstream" in my water circuit and the pump was still doing its job and the block was at least getting water.
