I removed the lower unit of my 888 and found a small metal plate with small holes drilled in it laying next to the water pump, its about 1.5 " wide and 2" high it is shaped like a arched doorway. I have not seen this part in any breakdowns. is it ok to run without it? any info would be helpfull.
