Mercruiser alignment

Just testing my alignment before mounting my Alpha 2 4.3L 1998. Bar slides in and out fine. As I look down on the tool from above when it is fully inserted it is not perpendicular to the transom housing. Seems to be angled to the port side a few degrees. Is this OK or not? The manual only talks about the need for easy slide in and out.

Re: Mercruiser alignment

Probably just an optical delusion. Bell housing is hard to get centered in the middle of it's steering travel.
As long as it goes all the way in and slides out with little effort you should be okay.
I'm sure other opinions will follow.
BTW Welcome to iboats

measure from the tip of your alignment tool to each corner of your boat...I bet it's centered.

THe bell housing is probably turned off center a bit and its making it look like its not centered
