Mercruiser Alpha 1 makes "chirping" sound

I have a 1996 5.7L Mercruiser Alpha 1 that makes a sort of chirping or squeaking noise when the engine's at about 1,000 rpm. Everything seems to be running fine and performance is unchanged. Any thoughts?

Could be a bearing starting to go bad or a belt starting to slip. I had a chirping sound this passed weekend that was intermittent, turned out to be the shaft bearing of one of my bilge blowers. Turned it off and the chirping went away.
