Mercruiser Alpha One gen 2 lower noise

I need help!! I have a 1994 Mercruiser Alpha One Gen Two and while cruising the lake at about 5-10 mph my prop struck something. The drive will allow me to shift into forward and reverse same as before. It will allow me to travel forward slowly. But if I attempt to give more fuel, or bring the rpms over 1,500 it then goes from running smoothly, to what would be the equivalent of a garbage disposal. It will only do this under load, tested on trailer and this did not occur. The prop and all items appear fine. I really am not familiar with working on these other than typical maintenance. Hoping someone can give me some guidance to narrow this down so I am not order parts not needed. Can anyone give me some references so I can start narrowing this down. I appreciate any feedback in advance.
