Hi everyone , I was inquiring if anyone has info for removal of the entire gimbal housing. I have removed the motor, removed the y-pipe and all the nuts and bolts securing the gimbal housing and transom plate together and the gimbal housing will not come off the back of the boat. Steering is all disconnected. It will not move are there any secrets that I am missing to remove this. I am completely replacing everything from the gimbal plate back. Thanks again

Howdy

Sure hope no one used 3M sealer on it, but it most cases it just takes a bigger hammer :D

Take a 2x4 and a hammer and smack it against the transom assembly, Since your replacing everything you could also hit the studs, that is unless you want to do something else with it later. Another thought is take a putty knife and try to get it between the transom and assembly.

The bolts and nuts are all separated between the inner housing and the gimbal plate on the outside. Does the actual gimbal bearing need to be removed from the housing for the entire piece to come out or no ? The only thing I did not disconnect on the inside it the two big bolts the hold the steering to the inner transom plate because that I am not replacing. Just replacing everything from the transom back on the outside. If I'm wording some of this wrong please tell me I am new to boats, have been a jetskiier for my water carrear not boats haha
Thanks again

Sounds like you got it right and the gimbal does not need to be removed first. Just the six studs

No that's a Bravo, but they are mounted the same way, just the amount of bolts are different. The pic just shows the rust bolts which slide right out.
