Grandkids coming and the boat is down. The interior guy just replaced vinyl and wood on both side panels. The boat no longer goes into reverse. Shifts fine just no backwards propulsion. Forward is perfect but seems to still creep forward in neutral. Shifts easily, Just ZERO reverse. The interior guy says he has no idea, all he did was replace the wood.

Last winter I had the water pump replaced.

Cables seem to be moving fine on top of engine

The boat is still floating in the water and would be a pain to get out without reverse.

Thanks Brian

any suggestions, order to check, any schematics would be greatly appreciated

Additionally, the cables from the throttle to the top of the engine appear to work correctly. cable from the top of the lower unit also seems to move correctly. But, does not go into reverse. ? disconnected in the lower unit.

Can try to adjust lower shift cable but best guess is the lower shift cable needs to be replaced

Thank You, that's what I was thinking. Question if I try to adjust which cable, which way?

Looks like bottom RAM and that I would need to screw the cable OUT towards the tramson ? 4 turns. But do the turns at the brass barrell or at the lock nut at the cable. Cable sure moves smoothly, If broken I think it would bind up... Agree doubt this will work but doubt I will make anything worse.
Thanks again fir the help. Brian

We could figure it out, but just look at the lower cable how it moves when placed into forward. Your not going to hurt anything by going the wrong direction
