I bought this bearing carrier tool and am having a difficult time using it, it seems to slip off as I’m putting pressure on it. Is there any remedy to use it so it doesn’t slip? Or am I looking at drilling it out?

Exactly what bearing are you trying to pull?
If it is the gimbal, it is the wrong tool.

Not sure that puller will work to pull a gimbal bearing.
First use lower holes
May need something to apply pressure the keep fingers separated. Then also need to have bolt able to press against something fixed

Title says bearing carrier assume from drive gear case

OP also posted on marine engine forum same question I mentioned same thing need to move pivot and hold the fingers say they stay forced out

Decided to look a bit closer at the Manual and the tool arms are placed differently depending on if its an earlier drive or later one

I never said I’m pulling the gimbal bearing, I’m pulling the bearing carrier. I wound up drilling it out to remove it, thanks for everyone’s suggestions
