Friend's Merc Diesel 1.7 tachometer is reading zero. The alternator is putting out normal 14V. Tacho guage power checked ok.<br /><br />Need help on where is the rpm signal coming from and what type of signal (DC or AC freq).<br /><br />Thanks in advance.<br /><br />Tan PS
